MASSETER BOTOX · EL PASO, TX
A slimmer, softer jawline and real relief from clenching and teeth grinding — with conservative, precise injections by Celeste Cisneros, FNP-BC. Botox from $10/unit. Natural-looking contouring, performed by a medical provider.
WHY PATIENTS CHOOSE MASSETER BOTOX
The masseter is the powerful muscle at the back corner of your jaw that closes your mouth when you chew and clench. In people who grind or clench — or who are simply genetically prone to a strong jaw — this muscle becomes overdeveloped, which both widens the lower face and drives painful clenching. Injecting Botox into the masseter relaxes the muscle: it can't contract as forcefully, so the grinding eases, and because the muscle isn't being constantly worked, it gradually reduces in size. The result is a slimmer, more tapered jaw and noticeably less jaw tension.
WHAT IT TREATS
Most patients come to masseter Botox for one of two reasons — and usually get the benefit of both. Whether your goal is a more contoured lower face or relief from a sore, clenching jaw, the treatment is the same; Celeste simply tailors the dose to your priority.
Softens a wide, square, or over-muscular jaw for a more tapered, balanced lower face. A non-surgical alternative many patients prefer to more invasive contouring. Slimming develops gradually over 6–8 weeks.
Relaxes the over-active masseter so it can't clench as hard — reducing grinding, jaw soreness, and tension headaches. Many patients also notice they sleep and wake more comfortably.
TRANSPARENT PRICING
At Solas Health & Wellness, Botox is $10 per unit at 20 or more units. Masseter treatment uses both sides of the jaw, so the total depends on how strong your masseter muscles are:
Heavy grinders with very developed masseters may need a little more; smaller muscles need less. Your exact dose — and exact price — is confirmed at your consultation before any injections. Ask about current new-patient offers when you book.
RESULTS & MAINTENANCE
The muscle-relaxing effect typically lasts 3–4 months. The slimming benefit often appears to last longer: because a relaxed masseter gradually shrinks (atrophies) with repeated treatment, many patients find the contour holds well and that they can space their treatments further apart over the first year. We'll build a maintenance schedule around how your muscles respond.
SAFETY
Masseter Botox is very well tolerated. The most common effects are temporary and mild: brief tenderness at the injection sites, and for some patients a feeling of chewing fatigue for the first week or two — especially with hard or chewy foods — as the muscle adjusts. This settles as you get used to the relaxed muscle.
Rare effects like an uneven smile or jaw asymmetry are almost always tied to imprecise placement, which is exactly why an experienced injector matters. Over-treatment by an inexperienced provider has been linked to sagging or jowls — at Solas, Celeste uses conservative, anatomically targeted dosing to slim the jaw safely. Botox isn't recommended if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain neuromuscular conditions, or are allergic to its ingredients; we review your full health history first.
AFTERCARE
There's essentially no downtime — most patients head straight back to their day. For the first 24 hours:

COMMON QUESTIONS
At Solas Health & Wellness, Botox is $10 per unit at 20 or more units. Masseter treatment typically uses about 20–30 units per side (40–60 units total for both sides), so most patients pay roughly $400–$600 for a full masseter treatment. Your exact dose — and exact price — is confirmed by Celeste at your consultation before any injections, based on your jaw muscle size and your goals.
Most patients need about 20–30 units per side, or 40–60 units total. Stronger, more developed masseter muscles (common in heavy clenchers and grinders) usually need more; smaller muscles need less. Celeste assesses your jaw by having you clench, then maps your dose to your anatomy so you only pay for what you need.
Yes. The masseter is the large muscle at the corner of your jaw. When it's overdeveloped — often from years of clenching or grinding — it can make the lower face look wide or square. Relaxing it with Botox lets the muscle gradually shrink, which softens and slims the jawline over about 6–8 weeks. Many patients choose masseter Botox specifically for a slimmer, more tapered lower face.
Very often, yes. By relaxing the masseter, the muscle can't clench as forcefully, which reduces grinding (bruxism), jaw tension, and the soreness and headaches that come with them. Many patients come in for the jaw-slimming benefit and are just as happy with the relief from clenching. If your main concern is jaw pain or TMJ, see our dedicated Botox for TMJ page.
Masseter Botox typically lasts about 3–4 months for the muscle-relaxing effect. The slimming result can appear to last longer, because a muscle that's kept relaxed over several rounds gradually atrophies (shrinks) and many patients find they can space treatments further apart over time.
Not when it's done correctly. Sagging or jowls are a rare complication usually tied to incorrect injection placement or over-treatment by an inexperienced injector. At Solas your treatment is performed by Celeste Cisneros, FNP-BC, who places conservative, anatomically precise doses into the masseter body — not the surrounding tissue — to slim the jaw safely. This is exactly why provider skill matters for masseter treatment.
You'll notice less clenching strength within about 1–2 weeks. The visible jaw-slimming develops more gradually as the muscle relaxes and reduces in size — most patients see the contouring effect over 6–8 weeks, with the fullest result by around 3 months.
Botox has an excellent safety record and masseter treatment is very well tolerated. At Solas it's administered by Celeste Cisneros, FNP-BC — a board-certified nurse practitioner and advanced aesthetic injector who reviews your full health history first. The most common side effects are temporary and mild: brief tenderness at the injection site and, for some patients, a feeling of chewing fatigue for the first week or two as the muscle adjusts.
Most patients describe it as a quick pinch. The masseter is treated with just a few injections per side using a fine needle, and the whole appointment takes under 30 minutes. Numbing cream is available if you'd like it.
