Treating the Cause,
Not Just the Symptom

Functional medicine asks why you feel the way you feel — and builds a personalized plan to address it at the root. At Solas, we combine clinical evaluation, advanced lab work, and individualized treatment to help you feel your best.

A Whole-Person Approach

Conventional medicine often treats symptoms in isolation. Functional medicine looks at the full picture — how your hormones, gut, immune system, stress response, and lifestyle interact and affect each other.

Celeste Cisneros, FNP-BC conducts thorough wellness evaluations to identify what's driving your symptoms and create a plan that actually addresses them.

Hormones & Endocrine Health

Comprehensive hormone evaluation including thyroid, adrenal, reproductive hormones, and metabolic markers. Imbalances here affect everything from energy to weight to mood.

Gut Health & Digestion

The gut is connected to immunity, inflammation, mental health, and more. We address digestive concerns, microbiome health, and nutrient absorption as part of a whole-body approach.

Inflammation & Immune Function

Chronic low-grade inflammation is behind many modern health concerns. We identify inflammatory drivers and create anti-inflammatory strategies tailored to your lifestyle.

Energy, Sleep & Stress

Fatigue, poor sleep, and chronic stress are often symptoms of deeper imbalances — not character flaws. We dig into the physiology behind these patterns and address them directly.

Functional Medicine FAQs

What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is an approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease and dysfunction — rather than just managing symptoms. It considers how genetics, lifestyle, environment, and biochemical individuality interact to create health or illness.

How is this different from a regular doctor visit?

A functional medicine wellness visit at Solas is longer and more comprehensive than a typical primary care appointment. We spend time understanding your full history, review detailed lab work, and build a personalized plan — rather than a quick symptom-to-prescription approach.

What lab work do you order?

It depends on your symptoms and goals, but may include a full hormone panel (thyroid, cortisol, reproductive hormones, DHEA), metabolic panel, CBC, inflammatory markers (CRP, homocysteine), insulin and blood sugar markers, nutrient levels (B12, D, ferritin), and more.

Do you treat thyroid conditions?

We evaluate and support thyroid health as part of our functional medicine approach. This includes comprehensive thyroid panels (TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3, antibodies) and individualized treatment when indicated.

Do you accept insurance for functional medicine visits?

Our functional medicine wellness visits are typically cash-pay. We can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement depending on your plan. Please call us at (915) 266-3174 to discuss pricing and options.
