WHAT LIP FILLER CAN DO
"Lip filler" is one price but not one treatment. Where the product goes, how much, and how firm it is depend on what you want changed. These are the four requests we hear most, and how each is approached.
A crisper vermilion border and a more visible Cupid's bow without added volume. Often a half syringe, placed along the border. The most common first-time request in patients in their 20s and 30s.
Lips that look slightly fuller and smoother, the way they photograph after a good lip mask. One syringe of a soft, flexible gel spread through the body of both lips. No one should be able to tell.
A thinner upper lip, an uneven side, or a corner that turns down. Filler placed asymmetrically on purpose to even things out. Frequently paired with a lip flip for an upper lip that vanishes when you smile.
Lips lose volume and the border flattens with age, and vertical lip lines appear. Filler rebuilds the border and body and softens the lines. Conservative product choice matters here; the goal is your lips at 35, not someone else's.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Lips swell more than any other filler area, and day two is when people panic. Here is the curve so you don't.
Numbing cream, then a facial assessment and the injections — 30–60 minutes total. You'll see the shape immediately. Expect puffiness and maybe a small bruise or two at the entry points. You can drive home.
Your lips will look bigger than the final result, sometimes noticeably. This is water being pulled into the hyaluronic acid, not the permanent size. Ice gently, sleep elevated, skip alcohol, heat and hard exercise.
Swelling drops fast after day 3. Any bruising is at its most visible mid-week and fades by day 7. Small lumps you can feel but not see are normal at this stage and smooth out.
The filler has integrated. What you see now is what you'll have for 6–12 months. If anything looks uneven, this is the touch-up or dissolve window — book the 2-week check if you'd like one.
WHO IT HELPS
The most common lip filler patient in El Paso: 20s–30s, wants definition and a little hydration, terrified of looking done. Half to one syringe, soft gel, and a two-week check. Nobody at work will know.
Book 4–6 weeks before the date so swelling is long gone and any touch-up is done. Pairs naturally with Botox for a natural look in photos. Not the week of.
One side fuller than the other, or an upper lip that's a third the size of the lower one. Filler is placed unevenly on purpose to balance the pair, often with a lip flip so the upper lip shows when you smile.
Patients in their 40s, 50s and 60s who don't want bigger lips, they want their lips back: a defined border, less vertical lining, lipstick that stays put. Conservative product and placement; often paired with filler elsewhere in the face.
Migrated filler above the lip line, lumps, or a shape you never liked. We dissolve with hyaluronidase first, wait two weeks, then refill correctly. Bring photos from before your original treatment.
Usually not volume — definition of a border that has flattened, or balance for a lower lip that dominates. Small amounts, firmer product, nothing that reads as "filler."

At Solas Health & Wellness, lip filler is $500 per syringe. Most lip treatments use one syringe, so that is the typical all-in cost for a first visit. Petite lips or subtle definition sometimes need only a half syringe, which we quote at your consultation. Your plan and price are confirmed before any injections.
Six to twelve months for most patients. Lips move constantly, so filler there metabolizes faster than in the cheeks or jawline. A touch-up at the 6–9 month mark keeps the result continuous; many patients find later visits need less product.
Less than most people expect. We apply a topical numbing cream first, and the fillers we use contain lidocaine, so the lips numb further as we go. Most patients describe pressure and a few pinches rather than pain. The visit takes 30–60 minutes.
Not with a conservative-first approach. Overfilled lips come from too much product too fast or from ignoring the lip-to-face proportion. Celeste starts with one syringe or less, shapes the border and the body of the lip to your anatomy, and would rather have you come back for more than over-fill on visit one. If you ever dislike the result, hyaluronic-acid filler dissolves with hyaluronidase.

A lip flip is 4–6 units of Botox in the muscle above the lip so the upper lip rolls slightly outward; it adds the look of fullness without volume, lasts 2–3 months, and costs about $50–$70. Lip filler adds real volume and definition and lasts 6–12 months. If you want your lips to actually be fuller, it's filler. If your upper lip disappears when you smile, a lip flip may be enough. Many patients do both.
Hyaluronic-acid fillers only, because they are reversible. The product depends on your goal: softer, more flexible gels for a natural, hydrated look, and slightly firmer ones for definition and border sharpness. Yes. Every filler we place in the lips is hyaluronic acid, which dissolves within a day or two after an injection of hyaluronidase. That safety net is why we don't use permanent or semi-permanent lip fillers.
Before: skip aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and alcohol for 2–3 days to reduce bruising, and reschedule if you have an active cold sore. After: no heavy exercise, saunas, or alcohol for 24 hours, no makeup on the lips for 12 hours, sleep with your head elevated the first night, and don't press or massage the lips unless we tell you to.
Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with an active cold sore or skin infection near the mouth, and anyone with a known allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine. If you get cold sores often, we can prescribe an antiviral to take around the appointment. We review your history at the consultation.
